I have been raised in a family that did a lot of hand sewing, crocheting, and hand working.
At a young age as I played with my Barbie doll I was her clothing designer. I designed and made many different outfits for Barbie.
When I had my first little girl she became my model. When I had my second girl I was more excited.  I designed and made clothes for them including prom dresses and their  wedding dresses, OK  They did a lot of the designing on their prom and wedding dresses But I made the design a reality.
I have made and designed many other dresses for friends through our the years.
I love to sew. I have been a professional seamstress for 25 years and have always had a sewing room in my home .
I have taught first , second, and third grades, in a private school for 4 years.  Be sides being involved in working with the youth from a ward and stake level.
For the last several years I have been playing around with the idea of a sewing school for the youth and adults,  a place where they could really LEARN how to sew, how to design and create.  I also felt that it was important for the skill of crocheting, and handwork to be learned and passed on to future generations. I have taught sewing to adults in the Salt Lake valley, mostly on how to make window treatments and home decor.  I  have taught sewing classes but just not in this way until now.
After many hours of planning I decided to get serious and go for it.  There are a few sewing schools around the country. I have visited a few and taken some of their ideas and put them together with my own.  Starting June 7th Loops n Stitches will open for the first time, as a formal school. I am excited and hope to be able to share and teach many fun and creative skills to all youth and adult.
I look forward to growing and adding many other ideas that I have in to the school. I had to start some where and I feel I have a great foundation to build on.
